My story

Hi people in the Northeast! I am a pretty little Chihuahua mix named Dahlia. I am about 4 years old, weigh only 12 lbs, and I was a stray dog in Devine, Texas, when I was taken to the local animal shelter. Unfortunately, my bad luck didn't stop there when I was involved in a house fire and had burns on my front paw pads, tail, ears, and the right side of my body. I was in the emergency room for a couple of days, then sent to a medical foster for continued care until I was healed. These days, I’m doing great, and am back to my happy self with healthy new skin grown in on my paw pads and tail, and some scars left over on my ears and right side. I’m spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find a wonderful future as someone's forever dog! My foster mom says I’m a small but mighty, medium energy girl, friendly and sweet with everyone I meet, including kids and strangers, and other dogs too. I absolutely love playing fetch and chasing bouncy squeaky balls, and like to sleep with a toy next to me. I’m affectionate and love tummy rubs, snuggling, and sharing kisses. I rarely bark, know how to use a potty pad, and I’m doing great with my housebreaking lessons. I love going for walks and taking rides in the car, but I’m not a fan of being kept in a crate. I hear many wonderful families on the East Coast would be happy to have a sweet little dog like me, so I can't wait to meet them and get my life started!
