My story

Meet Petey, the one-year-old Pit Bull with the iconic black eye patch – yes, just like the beloved pup from The Little Rascals! But while his look might be straight from Hollywood, his personality is even more unforgettable.Since leaving the shelter and into foster care, Petey has truly blossomed into a loving, gentle, and playful companion. He’s incredibly people-oriented and wants nothing more than to be near his humans — whether it’s curling up at your feet or joining in on family fun. He does have a little bit of separation anxiety, but it’s manageable and improves as he gains confidence and routine.Petey is especially tolerant and gentle with kids — he`s been wonderful with three children in his foster home, ranging from ages 2 to 5. He’s playful and curious, but always sweet-natured and patient, making him a perfect fit for a family environment. He’s also done really well with other dogs, including the senior pittie in his foster home. He’s still learning to read social cues (like when his older foster sister wants a break from play), but he takes corrections well and never escalates. Formal dog intros haven’t been done yet, but so far he seems very dog-friendly.This boy is a rockstar in the car, nearly housetrained, and is doing well with crate training at night. He’s still not a fan of being crated when left alone during the day, but he’s making progress. Leash manners are also a work in progress, but he’s smart and eager to please, which makes training a breeze.Petey is the kind of dog who will absolutely adore you — he’ll follow you from room to room, offer his paw for some love, and bring joy to every corner of your life.If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, and loving best friend with a classic look and a heart bigger than his blocky head, Petey might just be your perfect match.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt *PETEY, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
