Hello! I would like to introduce you to Titus! This boy came to NDLB due to the sudden passing of his Papa. He has been through a lot, but this boy is such a trooper! Titus is a 9 ½ year old Chesapeake Retriever Lab mix with a whole lot of sweetness in his canine genes. He settled into our routine very quickly and is the perfect house guest. He sleeps on the floor on his luxurious dog bed, not a peep but a few moans and groans while finding his perfect sleeping position. Titus is a very loyal, sweet, loving boy. He attaches very quickly and transitions so well. He is like a big cuddly bear! He loves lots of snuggles and hugs and kisses. Titus will bark for a bit when you leave, but that has improved since he has been at his foster home. It may be that he has a furry buddy to keep him company. Titus would love to have a fenced in yard in his new home so he can roam around and stay within the yard boundaries. He loves to sit on the deck and watch the world go by or take a siesta. He does let you know when someone is coming, which is okay, but we are working on redirecting him from alerting those around him. We let him know that he doesn't own the street or alley! He just wants everyone to stop by and say hi . Titus gets along well with other dogs. In his foster home he is backseat to the resident Golden and takes it in stride. He's like “good for you Mr. Goldie that are in charge!” I'll just sit back and watch you be the boss! He wrestles around with the Goldie but when the resident gets too rough, I redirect. Titus has not shown any interest in toys yet, but he will come with a basket full of them! Maybe over time he will play with them but right now he is not interested. Titus is a mellow, senior gent but he does need at least one walk a day. This boy loves his daily walk, and at almost 10 years old, this senior sweetheart can walk for up to an hour. He looks so forward to his walks and gets so excited when the leashes come out. This has been part of his routine his entire life so he would ask that walks be a priority. He does pull on the leash for the first few blocks, however we switched to a martingale harness and that has improved the pulling. On his walks he loves to just sniff and stroll about, saying hi to friends and eating grass. Loves, loves, loves his walks so they would need to be part of his daily routine. He loves car rides too! For his age he is still pretty agile and hops right into my SUV and stays in the back seat where there is a doggie sling that keeps him back there! He loves to put his nose out the window and sniff away with a frequent peek of his head to the front just to make sure you know he is there! Titus is a bit of a picky eater, but a little shredded chicken in his food and poof, it's all gone! Everyone has a bit of chicken in their refrigerator, right? Titus has not shown any prey drive towards the neighborhood squirrels and bunnies. He met the neighbor cat and was like "meh". No interest at all. Living with a cat would not be a problem for this gentleman. Mr. Titus is looking for a moderately active home where he can live out the rest of his golden years, whether that be one special person or part of a pack. He will just fold right into your family like he has been there forever, he is such a dolly!
