My story

One Way knows many ways to get into your heart! This little gal has been in foster care and is now ready to roll! One Way is a gentle, curious soul who thoroughly enjoys soaking in the sights of the outside world from her favorite window perch—cat TV is her jam. She’s a sweet and thoughtful kitten who prefers to take her time getting comfortable, but once she does, treats and gentle attention are the way to her heart. While she’s not quite ready to be a full-on cuddle buddy, she loves being nearby and involved in the action. When she opens up, she leans into deep rubs, offers her belly, and turns on the purrs like a motor. Full of quiet charm and playful curiosity, One Way brings a soft and steady joy to any home. She’s sweet, silly, and full of potential—the perfect mix of independent spirit and affectionate companion in the making. A “Tiny Spirit Kitten” is a feral or extremely shy kitten that has had no socialization with people in their first few months of life. These kittens will vary in terms of becoming social in their new homes; some may become very sweet and outgoing, while others may only ever trust you and no one else. They will all take patience, dedication and hard work to help them adjust into home life. Confinement to a single small room with a litter box, food, and water is a must. They do well in a home with other animals and, depending on the kitten, may even do well with children. They will go home with specific instructions that will need to be followed in order for everyone to have a successful transition. You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours:Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available kittens in the shelter. (Kittens in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT SIGHT UNSEEN If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the kitten first, we can help over the phone or by email. (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. Kittens are adopted on a first come, first served basis, and we’re not able to place holds on them. All kitten adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccination (if over 12 weeks of age) -current on distemper vaccines (will need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
