My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me.I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles!I am excitable and energetic! I will need positive outlets for my energy!I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me.I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.A volunteer writes: A handsome red dog is sitting in the overflow room in a back kennel. This boy is underweight, his skin too big for his bony body. He is 56 pounds but would probably wear 70 pounds well. He is tall and jowly, a head turner despite his poor condition. His name is Tesla. Tesla was brought to a police precinct in the Bronx after his owner felt she could not care for him. He had lived with 2 adults and 2 children, ages 4 and 9. He is friendly with strangers, but prefers to keep his space from children. He had some doggy friends, but had minimal experience with novel dogs. He had been soft bodied when meeting both male and female dogs at the shelter. He was said to be athletic, independent. He enjoys baths time and water, and is crate trained for up to 10 hours. He loves car rides, playing fetch, and knows a bunch of basic cues. In the yard, Tesla quickly finds himself a lap to prop up on, making the best of his time outside with us.
