My story

Approximate Age: 3 years Approximate Weight: 34.2 lbs Meet Tilly! A volunteer favorite, Tilly is definitely a “slow burn” kind of love. In her forever home, she’ll need someone patient and understanding to help her feel safe. Here’s what we’ve learned so far: -She’s not a fan of direct eye contact, quick approaches, or loud noises — but she is a fan of quiet, gentle energy. 
- Her first couple of days in foster were spent following her foster parents from a distance or decompressing in her crate… then she discovered the bed. Now it’s her kingdom. 
- Starting to get curious about toys and stuffies — no naughty chewing or counter surfing at all. 
- Big fan of peanut butter Kongs and eats her meals like it’s a race.
 - Potty manners are awesome, she holds it until she gets outside 
 - She’ll cry or whine in her crate if she can’t see/ hear you, so she’s happiest when she knows her person is close. - Super dog friendly and very confident when she’s with other dogs! - Rides well in the car - Enjoys quiet hikes and walks - Growing in confidence every day! Once Tilly feels fully safe, she’s going to absolutely blossom. This dog was rescued from a large-scale hoarding situation where they lived outdoors with minimal human contact, inadequate shelter, and limited access to food and clean water. While they are now safe and beginning to learn what it means to be loved and cared for, they may need time, patience, and gentle guidance to adjust to life in a home. Their resilience is incredible, and with the right support, they have the potential to thrive. Requirements And Donations - Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS). - Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards. - Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA. A $50 out-of-state fee applies. - Breed Identification: Dogs are listed as "Mixed Breed" unless formal documentation is available. Location And Hours - Visit our adoption center at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 during adoption hours: Wednesday 5-7 PM; Friday 6-8 PM; Saturday 11 AM-3 PM; Sunday 11 AM-1 PM. - We also host adoption events throughout our community.
