My story

Meet Maisy, a 3-year-old Retriever mix who was transferred to Big Dog Ranch from a shelter in Sumter County. She’s a quiet, gentle dog who’s still learning to come out of her shell. Due to her shy and timid nature, Maisy is looking for a calm, patient home where she can build trust at her own pace. She needs a home that understands her sensitivity and is willing to give her the time and space she needs to feel secure. She could be a great companion for a senior adopter or someone with a quiet lifestyle. Maisy has low energy and enjoys a relaxed, peaceful routine. She’s great on a leash, gets along well with other dogs, and knows basic commands. Once she’s comfortable, she’s incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle—but it takes time and patience for her to reach that point. Maisy isn’t the kind of dog who will jump into your lap on day one—but if you’re patient and gentle, she’ll become a calm and loyal companion who simply wants a safe place to belong.
