Rufus

My story

A28517 Rufus is a black with brown and white colored, approximately 10-year-old, 73-pound, neutered male, Australian Shepherd. He entered the shelter as an owner surrender on 06-10-2025 due to the fact he was nervous around their new baby. Rufus is a friendly, energetic, senior boy here at the shelter. He is excited and waiting for you at the kennel door, ready to go out for a walk. Our staff describes him as a happy boy with great energy, who would be a great hiking partner. They say he likes people and affection; he just doesn’t seek it out. He was easy to leash and eager to go for a walk. He does pull hard on the leash and will need some manners training there. He has had some training and will “sit” upon command. He shows no interest in other dogs here at the shelter. The previous owner says he is house broken and has lived with other dogs and children but not cats. They did say he is all bark and no bite at new dogs. In addition, they say they have taken him to the dog park. Rufus will be a fun-loving companion in his new forever home.
