My story

The name CoraLee might conjure visions of sweet tea sipped in rocking chairs on wraparound porches, but this tuxedoed lady’s name actually has ancient roots. Cora, meaning “maiden” or “daughter,” is derived from the Greek Kore, the original name of the goddess Persephone, who ruled both the underworld and the spring. And Lee comes from the Old English Leah, meaning “clearing,” “meadow,” or “pasture.” Put it all together, and you get something like “maiden of the meadow.”Like her divine namesake, CoraLee has known both shadow and sunlight. And like Persephone, her story reflects the cyclical nature of life: after a descent into darkness, there is a promise of renewal. We don’t know much about her early life, but at some point, CoraLee must have weathered some dark days—she eventually found herself with another rescue group. Appropriately, in spring 2025, CoraLee arrived at Tabby’s Place, and her life began anew.Though she’s been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, her condition is easily managed. CoraLee gobbles up her medication hidden in treats twice a day without a fuss. She gets along well with other cats and while she may be a bit shy at first, she is unfailingly gentle and sweet. CoraLee doesn’t ask for much—she does not need a palace fit for a goddess. She simply wants a calm, quiet home where she can spend her golden years basking in the sunlight she so richly deserves.CoraLee may not rule the underworld or bring forth the seasons, but she carries the graceful strength of a goddess. Will you be the one to welcome her home? Fill out an adoption application today!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Coralee, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
