My story

Apply to Adopt Me! I’ve got my eye on you…will you set yours on me?? My name is Sunday. I am an approx. 2-year-old possible hound/shepherd mix and weigh around 28lbs. I didn’t get the greatest start in life and so I come with a few quirks - but they just fill out my loving and fiercely loyal personality. I was either abandoned or born as a stray and managed to survive living on a construction site, trying my best to keep myself and my previous litters of puppies safe. The vet believes that I lost my eye and suffered some injuries (healed fractures in my leg) by fighting off a coyote who had bad intentions for my puppies. As a result, I should be the only dog in the household. I’m not really comfortable with dogs that are larger than me but for the most part, I don’t react if it’s a smaller dog if I see them while I’m out for a walk (it honestly just depends bc sometimes I don’t care at all!). Patience, understanding and some dedicated training are the best bets to make me comfortable with all dogs. I am good with cats. When I’m feeling playful I like to chase my feline brother and sister for fun but turn into the biggest baby if I get ‘swatted’ by them for being too excited (not aggressive). I was rescued last November and within a few weeks my foster mom noticed I was getting a little heavy in the belly. Two days before Christmas I gave birth to 5 adorable puppies so now it is my turn to put myself out there and find my forever home. Here are a few important details about what would make me most comfortable in my forever home: • I do have separation anxiety so having a family that is retired, works part time or from home would be the best fit. (NOTE: As I get more comfortable in my new house and bonded to you, my anxiety does lessen). • I am fully housebroken and am absolutely perfect on a leash!! I do like to ‘plant’ myself if I want to continue sniffing, though.  • I would not do well locked in a crate or in a bedroom as it would make my anxiety much worse. I am not destructive if I’m left alone for a little while and allowed to roam freely inside. • I sleep in the human bed, buried under the covers. This is a must. • I am a low-to-medium energy girl. I love to snuggle on the couch or bed while you watch tv. I’m great at keeping your feet warm. • I am very gentle with taking treats and am not food aggressive at all.  • I am learning basic commands like sit and stay - I love all the treats I get for these simple tasks! • I love soft squeaky toys - they are my "babies." If you throw it, I will fetch it and bring it back. • I would be best in an all-adult home or if the home has kids would be best to be older teens. • I settle quickly in the car. It’s not my favorite but once I’m in, I’m good. • I don’t require a fenced in yard as long as I get my walks 3x a day - but if you have one, I’ll be happy to run laps and play. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Sunday, please complete an app and tell us more about your family. June 18, 2025, 11:56 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sunday, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
