Hello my name is Lucky, I’m from Minnesota! From her foster: I'm Lucky! I'm interested in everything. If I see something new, I have to check it out! I love to play, hide, climb, jump up, and wrestle with my brother, Precious. I'm a good eater and good with the litter box. I'm learning how nice getting pets are. I'd love a home with furry or otherwise friends, to play with! This animal has tested positive for FIV and requires specific care as a result. To learn more about FIV: https://bestfriends.org/resources/fiv-cats-faqs-feline-immunodeficiency-virus This animal has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV is a slow-acting virus that weakens a cat’s immune system over time. It is similar to HIV in humans but only affects cats and cannot be transmitted to people or other animals. FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, often from fighting. Casual contact (e.g., grooming, sharing food bowls) is not a typical transmission method. Neutered cats in stable, indoor environments are at low risk of spreading or catching it. When considering care of FIV + cats, know that they are more susceptible to infections, so keeping them indoors, managing stress and exposure to illnesses is important in keeping them healthy! At this time it is the policy of TBB that FIV + cats go into foster or adoptive homes that only have other FIV + cats or not other cats. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives with proper care. The diagnosis isn’t a death sentence and doesn't mean a poor quality of life.
