Highlight: Forest requires another confident dog in the home to help him continue building trust.Meet Forest – A Gentle Soul with the Sweetest EyesForest is an 8-year-old Australian Shepherd who weighs 54 pounds and is on a heartwarming journey of healing and discovery. When he first arrived, he was in poor condition with a severely matted coat and a spirit that had clearly been through a lot. Despite his rough past, Forest is slowly but surely learning that the world can be a kind and loving place. This sweet boy is naturally timid and still a bit unsure in new situations, but he’s making amazing progress every day. What helps him most? Other dogs! Forest absolutely lights up around canine companions and may require another dog in the home to help him continue building confidence. He even shows his playful side when he’s with them, which is a joy to see.Forest has the kindest blue eyes that will quietly meet yours with curiosity and hope. He’s still learning how to fully trust people, but he’s started seeking out gentle head scratches and accepting affection. He’s a bit hesitant with treats for now, but his courage is growing each day. With patience, love, and the guidance of a calm home (and possibly a doggie friend), Forest will blossom into the companion he’s meant to be. He has the sweetest soul and is already showing how much love he has to give. If you’re looking for a rewarding bond with a gentle heart, Forest may be your perfect match.******Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Forest, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
