My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:I am a shy and timid older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home!I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat.I have potential behavior challenges that staff will address with you when you meet me.I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.I am looking for a home with a patient person.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I would do best in a home with only adult humans.Jack is at the front of the kennel upon approach, body and eyes neutral. Treats are placed slowly in front of him, which he sniffs at before beginning to eat them. When the kennel door is open, Jack goes to his top shelf and looks around, attempting to jump on top of the kennel banks. Assessor is able to redirect his attention with a plate of wet food, which he quickly goes to eat. When hearing noises occur in the room around him, he will pause and tense before retreating up into his cubby. He is able to be encouraged back to the front of the kennel when spoken to softly and offered treats. Jack head bunts and rubs his body against assessor's hands, allowing petting on the head, cheeks, shoulders, and down his back, leaning into it.Due to prior owner history and bite/scratch history we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced adult only cat parent home. He may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home.A volunteer writes: We've heard that Jack is extraordinarily playful and loves to be around people, but I kind of wish Jack would tell me himself. He's working hard to get his bearings as a senior who has suddenly found himself with us and though it seems like he's just trying to get by, there's a notable gentleness to Jack that makes me take notice. Stretched out next to his bed, Jack reached his paws and sweetly looked up at me. He didn't feel much like coming forward or sniffing the treats I had brought, nor could I seem to interest him in a toy collection curated especially for him. We hope that with time, patience, and love, Jack will show more of his brilliant personality and that you'll give him a chance to do just that. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 10 Age: 13yrs 1mths 1wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jack, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
