My story

Buford is a 4-year-old English Bulldog with a heart as big as his adorable, squishy face. Found as a stray, it quickly became clear that Buford was struggling to breathe. After thorough veterinary evaluation, we learned he was suffering from Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS)—a condition common in "mushy face" breeds such as Bulldogs. Dogs with BOAS have narrow airways, making it difficult to breathe and leaving them at high risk for overheating. Thanks to specialized surgery, Buford now has a whole new lease on life. His nostrils were widened, excess soft palate tissue was removed, and his airways were carefully opened to help him breathe easier and avoid future complications. Buford is healing beautifully and is already embracing his new, more comfortable life. But we didn’t stop there! Buford has also begun professional training with our trusted partners at Connected Canine, where he’s participating in a board and train program. He’s working on his basic obedience, manners, and learning how to be the very best version of himself for his future family. We’re helping Buford heal not just physically, but emotionally, so he can thrive in his forever home. Buford is a sweet, goofy, and lovable guy who is finally ready to find his family. If you think that family could be yours, we encourage you to submit an adoption application at skysanctuaryrescue.org/applications. Once received, we’d love to arrange a meet-and-greet to introduce you to this wonderful boy!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Buford, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
