ABOUT COCONUT SMOOTHIE Calling all Husky lovers, come meet Coconut Smoothie! This gorgeous girl is a 4-year-old Husky mix who loves to snuggle and sleep. Coconut came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Louisiana when they no longer had space for her. Despite being in the shelter, Coconut is content to lounge on her bed or sunbathe outside! More often than not, this girl is snoozing away in her kennel. She already knows basic commands, appears house-trained, and is super food motivated to learn! Coconut has enjoyed participating in our Doggy Day Out program too! Here's what one volunteer had to say about her: "I had Coconut Smoothie today! She jumped right in the car and quickly sat down. She was quiet the whole way to the park and was very excited for all the new smells. We went on the wooded trail because it was drizzling. Went to the car for a water and treat break. Then we went to Caufiell estate for another walk. She was not bothered by the cars going by and a deer was in the woods, she did alert but I just redirected her. We went for a pup cup, which she loved. I went in the backseat and gave her a good brushing while I looked for any ticks from the woods. We went back to the shelter and she was excited to see her friends. Such a good dog and I’m sure she will be adopted soon." - Autumn **Coconut Smoothie has exhibited signs of prey drive for small animals, including cats, squirrels, rabbits, and ferrets. Due to this, she should not live in a home with small pets! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
