My story

Kaycee is such a good doggo girl! Her recent foster provided this feedback:`Temperament: Kaycee is a very responsive, affectionate, and smart good girl. She is so loving - her favorite thing to do is jump on the couch with you and cuddle in close for lots of love and kisses. Rather than play fetch outside, she prefers to explore a bit, and then run back to you for belly rubs, and repeat. I think she could do belly rubs all day - with some snack breaks, of course. Training: When we met, she already knew “sit” and “down,” and during our day together she also mastered “shake.” She is very observant of people and quickly learned that we want her to stay off the counters and give us space while we’re eating at the dining table. She’s already potty trained to go to the bathroom outside only. Overall she is treat motivated and responds well to positive reinforcement. Other animals: She met our cats through some glass doors, and was calm and not reactive. When we introduced them to each other with Kaycee on leash, she was respectful but definitely wanted to sniff them closer. I think she can be positively reinforced to be calm around cats. We saw some other dogs and even deer very close to us on our walk, and though she was interested, she listened to not chase them. Walking: She walks pretty well on a leash and will do well with continued positive reinforcement. Miscellaneous: She doesn’t like being in a crate, but she sleeps well on the floor/bed or the couch, and she will sleep as long as you do. She briefly chewed on some wooden toys/decor we had, but redirected well to an imitation-wood chewing bone we provided. Potential for separation anxiety. She velcroed onto me and would get upset if I went into a different room for a few minutes. This could probably be trained away once she is confident in her permanent home.`Interested in meeting Kaycee? Please visit our adoption center located at 12425 Monterey Rd in San Martin anytime during open hours (12-6pm weekdays, 12-5 pm weekends). No appointment is necessary and there is no pre-application process.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt KAYCEE, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
