TOBY was saved from a high-kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Friday, February 14th, 2025. We post our available dogs across the East Coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes of finding them the perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs—families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine, to meet and, hopefully, take their new companion home. Health & Background TOBY arrived in great health and is fully vetted: &#226&#156&#133 Neutered &#226&#156&#133 Rabies and core vaccines up to date &#226&#156&#133 Heartworm and tick disease tested – all negative &#226&#156&#133 On monthly preventatives &#226&#156&#133 Microchipped &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Weighed 62.4 lbs on February 12th - probably more 75+ pounds now Estimated DOB: December 2022 TOBY’s Personality Happy, goofy, and full of life &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Gentle, sweet, and very affectionate Loves to “chat” with his people—he’s a social boy who enjoys connection Enjoys toys and doing the zoomies when he’s excited Bonds quickly—after just a short time, he’ll lay at your feet waiting for love Walks fairly well on a leash but does pull a bit—mainly because he’s eager to explore everything around him Very curious—always interested in noises, scents, and what’s going on nearby Rides great in the car—settles down easily and calmly Can be jumpy when excited—just needs reminders and consistency Attempted to jump a 4ft chain-link fence to greet a neighbor’s dog—he wanted to play, not escape Strong, playful, and people-focused Was adopted briefly—his family described him as engaging, intelligent, friendly, and affectionate, but more dog than they were ready for With basic training and clear expectations, TOBY will make an incredible addition to an active, loving family Texas Shelter Observation When approached, TOBY came up with his tail wagging and happy Accepted petting and allowed a loop lead to be put on him Walked nicely to the van and was calm when picked up into the van Very sweet boy What TOBY Needs Has an active lifestyle and understands the needs of a mentally and physically healthy dog Provides mental stimulation, structure, and boundaries Understands the nutritional importance of high-quality food, treats, and enrichment Will provide regular veterinary wellness checks &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Gives time to decompress, adjust, and learn the rules of his new home Adoption Details Adoption Fee: $250 Location: Sebec, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet TOBY &#226&#143&#177&#239&#184&#143 Applications are processed within 24 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of TOBY?
