My story

Shakespeare got it wrong... Let's write our Romeo a tragedy story that ends in love!Our Romeo doesn’t need a fancy balcony or iambic pentameter - just a quiet home, a steady hand, and someone who knows that real love takes time.Here’s the tragic beginning:Romeo came to us from an overcrowded rural shelter, hand-shy and unsure, but SO eager to belong. He flinches at fast movements but leans in, tentatively and hopefully, when he thinks you're kind. He adores soft squeaky toys -- he carefully contemplates each one... then pounces with delight!He’s had a rough start: lost, alone, and heartworm-positive. Being so young, the heartworm affected his growth - he’s just under 40 pounds and likely won’t get much bigger. He’s already started treatment, and Animal Aid Society will cover the entire cost, even after adoption.Romeo was adopted once (for just two days), but the constant noise and hallway commotion of apartment life overwhelmed him. Romeo doesn’t want a crowded stage; he wants a calm space in the wings where he can learn to feel safe and seen.Loving a shy dog is a slow-burning masterpiece. It’s the first tail wag, the first gentle nudge, the first time he falls asleep with his head in your lap. It’s a story of triumph measured in tiny moments, or, in the words of Shakespeare: “Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast.”  Romeo’s love isn’t reckless or theatrical. He doesn't need a Juliet who panics when things seem uncertain - he needs someone who pauses, reassesses, and realizes... This isn’t the end, it’s just intermission. Less poison and daggers, more patience and devotion. THAT'S the next scene - the love story we need YOU to write.Wherefore art thou Romeo? He's at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road in Hampton.
