My story

Meet Alvin šŸ’™ Foster in Virginia Beach Virginia Alvin is a 2-year-old blue merle Sheltie with a gentle soul and an open heart. Though he’s only been in rescue a couple of days, he’s already snuggling on the couch, watching TV with his foster parents, and loving backyard adventures like a natural. Alvin is available for foster-to-adopt in the 757 area, and he must have at least one calm, friendly dog companion to help him feel secure. He’s dog- and cat-friendly, house-trained, and extremely affectionate. Alvin lives to be close to his people and thrives in a home where dogs are allowed on furniture and in the bedroom. If you prefer to keep dogs off the couch or out of the bedroom, he’s not the right fit for your home. Because of past trauma, Alvin is afraid of young children, so he needs a kid-free home (respectful teens are fine). He is not aggressive, but he will retreat and shut down if exposed to yelling, loud banging, or chaotic environments. He needs a calm, quiet home where he feels safe. A fenced yard is required, and the home must have a secure entryway (like a mudroom, baby gate, or enclosed porch) to help prevent any accidental escapes. Alvin will not be placed in a home that crates dogs during the day or overnight — he is thriving with open access and trust. While new experiences can still spook him, Alvin is blossoming quickly. Once settled, he will bond deeply and look to you for guidance and comfort. If you’re in the 757 and are ready to share your home, heart, couch, and quiet companionship — Alvin is ready to love you back tenfold. 🐾 Please do not ask questions here if you have specific questions after you have read our guidelines you may message the page. If you have any questions or would like to adopt Alvin, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
