My story

Meet Sweetums ACCT-A-221982! Sweetums is a 4-year-old female who was brought in by animal protection officers as a stray on 6/2 after she was found trapped in between a fence. VIDEOS: Sweetums is a sweet one: https://youtube.com/shorts/sTtmnImCXfE?feature=shared Sweetums Gets Some Pets: https://youtube.com/shorts/0e6z0SVE3J0?feature=share Medical Notes: Per an exam on 6/3: Eyes - crusty dermatitis, likely representative of healing traumatic abrasions, in periocular region OU (worse OD) Developed mammary. Firm nodular masses associated with the right 3rd and 4th mammary glands Traumatic amputation of tail w/ exposed bone and fascia Assessment: -Traumatic tail amputation -Mammary masses, right 3rd and 4th glands -Healing peri-ocular abrasions Per an exam on 6/2: Objective: -Tail has been traumatically amputated, approx 4-5 inches left. Tip is spliced and bone is showing, wound is not fresh but doesn't appear overtly infected. Smaller old scars noted on body, esp around head. Crusting around OD. Mild skin tenting, PQ S/S. -Pt was nice and very tolerant. Ate pills in cheese and hot dogs. Assessment: -Briefly examined for basic treatment of tail amputation and to be sure Pt is stable to stay overnight. Wound isn't fresh but doesn't appear to be infected. Tail is in need of surgical amputation. Mild dehydration but likely from no access to water.” Behavior Notes: Per staff 6/2: “Very tolerant of exam & handling. Took treats very gently, even though you could see she was eager for them” Per APO 6/2: “Excited to eat hot dogs, was very calm while we were cutting fence, allowed leashing and being lifted. Very very sweet dog.” ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open-intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly's Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sweetums , please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
