My story

If you're looking for a best friend who’s equal parts goofball and guardian, Ragnar might just be your guy. This handsome shepherd is all about two things: fetch and you. Balls, sticks, squeaky toys—if you can throw it, he’s chasing it with pure joy. And when the game’s over? He’ll be right by your side (or under your feet), because in true German Shepherd fashion, Ragnar is a certified Velcro dog. Ragnar is still learning the ropes of indoor life—he was likely an outside dog before—but he's making progress every day. He’s got a strong recall, is hit-or-miss on “sit” and “down,” and is working on other basics like “place” and “leave it.” He hasn’t had an accident so far, but we won’t promise he's fully housebroken just yet. Let’s just say he’s a bull in a china shop with a heart of gold—clumsy, strong, but eager to please and incredibly smart. He even figured out how to navigate public transportation on his own as he was found riding a BART train.  He’s learning crate training and he did excellent with a groomer in the bath. He was fine meeting a female dog, was less happy with a male dog, but this was immediately following the release at the animal shelter. Since he was found riding the BART Train with another male shepherd, it was likely stress or selection. We’re not sure how he is with kids or cats just yet, but we’re happy to explore that with the right home. What we do know is that Ragnar is full of potential, and with patience, guidance, and love, he’s going to make an incredible companion.   ##2419053##
