My story

Meet Jasper – The Snuggly Goofball with a Heart of Gold Jasper is a 3.5-year-old, 57-pound bundle of love who brings the perfect mix of playful energy and heartwarming affection. This sweet and silly pup is looking for his forever person, and he has a whole lot of love to give. He loves being close to his people. Jasper leans into you for pets, rests his head on your shoulder, and soaks up attention like it’s his favorite thing in the world. In the car, he hops in on his own and settles after a bit of adjusting. He may stand up and lie back down a few times, and he definitely prefers to be close to you—sometimes very close. It’s best to have him safely tethered in the car, unless you want him trying to ride in your lap. Jasper is easy to leash up, with just a little excited jumping at first, and he goes potty right away when he gets outside. He can pull a bit at the start of a walk but quickly settles into a nice, manageable pace. For a larger dog, he walks very well and enjoys being out. He is smart, treat motivated, and knows “sit.” Jasper absolutely loves toys, especially balls of any size. He even managed to destroy a giant tennis ball and proudly carried it around afterward. He has a playful side and enjoys little bursts of energy. Jasper has shown he does well in public settings and has been friendly and gentle with older children. He hasn’t been around toddlers yet, so any introductions to younger kids should be slow and supervised. He also does well for a bath and is a polite, friendly boy around new people. He doesn’t jump up and is always happy to greet you with a wagging tail and a gentle presence. If you’re looking for a loyal, snuggly, and playful companion who wants to be by your side, Jasper could be the perfect match. Come meet him and see just how sweet and special he really is. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jasper, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
