My story

Meet Nova – our long-legged, hair-tie-stealing lovebug! At just about 6 months old and 25lbs, Nova is a playful pit mix pup who’s expected to grow into a 35-40 pound bundle of affection and mischief. With legs that seem too long for her body, she gallops through the house like a tiny gazelle—especially when something squeaky catches her eye. We DNA tested her littermate, Aurora. Make sure you check out her, bio, too. Her DNA results show she's quite the mix. 45% American Staffordshire Terrier 20% American Pit Bull Terrier 19% Beagle 13% Boston Terrier 2% Bulldog 1% Boxer Nova is equal parts goofy and sweet. She’s got energy to burn (she is a puppy, after all) and a big heart that adores human attention. She’s quick to crawl into your lap, shower you in kisses, and if you’ve got a hair tie in—well, consider it hers now. While she hasn’t met many new people yet, her curious, loving personality tells us she’ll charm just about anyone. She’s still learning all the puppy basics—potty training, not nibbling toes, and understanding boundaries—but she already knows the word “no” and picks up on things quickly. She hasn’t started leash or crate training yet, but she’s eager to learn with a family who will guide her with patience and love. Nova would thrive in a home ready to embrace the puppy chaos and all the joy that comes with it. Whether she’s your only dog or joins a playful companion, she just wants to be close to her people. She hasn’t been around kids or cats, but she interacts beautifully with adult humans and has shown she can read the room when an older dog has had enough. Nova’s story began in tough circumstances, but you’d never know it by the way she lights up a room. She’s affectionate, active, and downright hilarious—and she’s ready to start her next chapter. Three words to sum her up? Loving. Active. Goofy. If you’re looking for a loyal snuggle buddy with a side of comedic timing, Nova’s your girl. The adoption donation for Nova is $350. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention (age appropriate). Nova will be adopted on a spay contract. If you would like to meet this dog, you must have an approved application on file and be willing to travel to the Mahoning County, Ohio area for a meet and greet. All of our dogs reside in foster homes. We do not have a physical shelter. ---------------------------------------------- Applications will be reviewed/approved and each dog will be placed in the home that can best meet their individual need. If you live in a residence with a Homeowner’s Association (HOA) please make sure you check that the dog you are interested in does not violate size or breed restrictions. A successful adoption is our goal. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of any dog. We require you call your established veterinarian asap to schedule a wellness visit. Our applications can be found by clicking on the “adoption application” link at https://apaprescue.com Our primary form of communication is email. Please check your spam/junk folder so you don’t miss any emails! We do send an email confirming we received your application but please be patient. It is not an auto response. It must be sent manually. Our email is run by volunteers and is not monitored 24/7. We recommend using a computer, laptop or tablet to fill out the application. Questions do not always show up in full on a phone. Leaving a field empty will result in the application not processing. If you get a grey screen, scroll up or down to see which field you left blank. Follow the prompt to continue. —————————— **IMPORTANT ** Please note that when you use the “start an inquiry/introduce yourself” feature it is NOT an application to adopt. Don’t waste your time clicking on it! Adoption donation policy effective 1/1/23: Under a year - $350 cash/check $360 PayPal/Venmo Adult (1-9) - $250 cash/check $260 PayPal/Venmo Senior (10+) - $200 cash/check $210 PayPal/Venmo We apologize for the inconvenience of a service fee if you are using PayPal or Venmo. Each year we lose hundreds of dollars for their service fees, and their fees continue to rise. Every dollar matters and those lost dollars means less dogs we can fund and help. We are a 100% volunteer group that utilizes foster homes. We do not have a shelter/building. Thank you for understanding.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nova, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
