Hoooowdy. I'm MERINGUE (Milo) and below you'll find out all about me:Breed: Poodle mixAge: 2-1/2 yearsGender: maleWeight: 16 poundsHeight: 8 inchesHighlights: very sweet, loving, easy-going, happy, quiet, docile How did a wolf in sheep's clothing slip in you ask? Hahaaa. I may be as docile and sweet as a sheep, but it's just little ol' poodley boy, me and fluffy as meringue.I currently live on Vancouver Island with my foster mom and six other furry siblings and a bunch of love birds and a free-ranging African grey parrot. I have been in my foster home since about March and I love every minute of it. I love to nap on the sofa during the day and at night and I love to run in the yard from one corner to another. I love to play with the other dogs, all the squeaky toys and I love my food.I know, I need to lose another pound. My foster mom said that I looked just like a sheep when I first came. She has been trying hard to slim me down ever since. But, hey, when she does all the yummy home cooking and feeds us all the good food, how can one not keep eating? With the good food I am getting and all the exercise I do everyday, my body has begun to show some curves.Ok, I may not be the cutest pup you will ever meet, but I will make my way into your heart soon after we meet. Everyone loves me! I am very easy-going, loving and will let you do anything to me. My foster mom kept on saying that I am the ONLY one among all the dogs who will stand still when she trims my facial hair and when she puts the harness on me. I listen well too.The only thing that I was having trouble with, was the housetraining part. My foster mom goes to work for 10-12 hours everyday and I am not going out to the yard by myself if she is not around, even though the door to the yard is open. I can’t hold my pee for that long, hence I had some accidents in the house. I like to follow my foster mom everywhere. I am getting good at the housetraining part now though, haven’t had any accident for two weeks straight. My foster mom is very proud of me. I'm sure reinforcement of my housetraining will work well, if I am taken out regularly, rather than long periods alone.I do well with dogs, cats and I was even good with the toddler and the baby who came to visit my foster mom.Even though I love my foster family, I do long for my own. My foster mom is a very, very busy lady, never stops and I spend a lot of the time on my own. I want to have my own human to hang around, to go out for a walk and to sit with or to lie beside. Would you be mine?I'll soon have new photos all gussied up from the groomers. Videos to come. A vid of me gnawing on a toy. https://youtu.be/j1aM16GzA7w. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper. ##2421583##
