My story

Information from Marie's most recent foster:  Marie is a sweet girl who is a bit shy and likes to hide when first arriving at new places.  After about a week at her new foster house, she began to feel comfortable and show her personality.  She loves to get pets and scratches and will show her affection with purrs, slow blinks, and biscuits.  She can also be really playful.  If you have the time, she will enjoy playing feather wand toy with you for up to an hour!  She is hesitant about new animals at first, but with gradual introductions she will make a great addition to a household.Feedback for her previous foster (before she came to Mountain Pet Rescue): She adored the old man cats in the home however she did not get along with the 2 feral female cats.  They were not friendly with her and initially, Marie was defensive with them, and it worked.  But then the dynamic changed for some reason (probably called her bluff) and eventually she seemed terrified of them.  She has never liked being held, but she always came to me for pets.  She has an adorable teensy meow.  Totally food-motivated.  Churu is her love language.  I think she would eat until she popped when it comes to treats and canned food.    She hasn't been around dogs much, but she tolerated one of our smaller, calm dogs coming in the room to check on "her" kitties.  I think she would be receptive to a female kitten - I think territory was the problem with my bossy girls.  And I can't stress enough how much she loved my old men kitties.  I have noticed that she is fascinated with 'new' water when I would bring their water bowl back after getting fresh water.  I have seen her stand in the bowl.  She might be a cat who likes to play in water.Apply to adopt to be the first to meet Marie at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, during our weekly adoption event, 12-4pm, Saturday or maybe even sooner. All cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on flea preventative. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. June 19, 2025, 1:39 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Marie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
