My story

Meet Mavis Mae a vibrant and affectionate girl who came to us as a stray and has quickly won over staff and volunteers with her charming personality. She’s bubbly, friendly, and full of tail wags for anyone willing to give her attention. Mavis Mae loves interacting with people—she welcomes petting and handling and will happily nuzzle in for more. She’s got a wiggly body, an alert mind, and a heart that’s eager to connect.During her play test, Mavis showed that she’s got great play manners. She enjoys chasing balls, mouths toys gently, and is able to disengage calmly when playtime ends—traits that will make her a fun and respectful playmate in a home.Mavis Mae is still working on her dog-to-dog manners. During a preliminary intro, she was stiff and unsure. We always recommend slow, supervised introductions if there’s another dog in the home—our team is happy to help with guidance on this.Mavis Mae is looking for a loving, patient adopter who will give her the structure, affection, and playtime she craves. If you’re ready to bring home a loyal, happy companion with plenty of love to give, Mavis Mae just might be your girl! Come meet her and see if she’s the missing piece to your family!This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!Be sure to check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
