My story

Buddy is a 1-year-old shepherd mix who was recently surrendered by his previous owner. Though his owner loved him dearly, they recognized that Buddy’s needs required more time, training, and experience than they could provide. Buddy knows basic commands, is housetrained, and loves to cuddle—making him a devoted companion for someone ready to invest time and patience in his training. He thrives when given plenty of mental and physical stimulation, as his active mind and body need regular exercise and engaging activities. Buddy enjoys interacting with people and bonds closely with those who provide consistent leadership and affection. While Buddy has shown good initial manners around other dogs and animals, he can sometimes become reactive as he gains confidence in new environments. This means he benefits most from a calm, structured routine and positive training techniques to help him build trust and confidence. He has also displayed some separation anxiety, so a family committed to helping him feel secure and comfortable during alone time will set him up for success. With the right guidance, Buddy has great potential to excel in advanced training, including protection work or other activities that channel his energy constructively. He’s looking for an experienced adopter who understands his needs and can provide a loving, structured home where he can thrive. Buddy is eager to meet you and become your new best friend!
