My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles!Archangelo was lying asleep at the front of the kennel and woke up as the door was being opened. He was calm and curious, ate treats, and accepted all petting, enjoying it and leaning in for cheek rubs while remaining calm. His tail began to swish a bit while raised high, indicating the potential for some overstimulation, but he did not escalate in the kennel. He remained calm during pickup and continued to tolerate petting and attention once settled back down. He is a sweet cat who is easily triggered.Archangelo is currently accepting interaction in the shelter and has a history of some affectionate and interactive behavior in the home, including with the resident child and another cat. However, he also has a significant bite and scratch history involving multiple incidents, including significant injuries to adults and a child. Many of these incidents appear to have been triggered by environmental factors such as sudden noises, rushed movements, or overstimulation, as well as the presence of the other cat.Archangelo is best suited for an experienced, adult-only home with adopters who can recognize and manage triggers and provide him with structure and space. We recommend counseling in managing overstimulation and defensive reactivity in the home.A volunteer writes: Found on the street in a carrier, Archangelo walked out of it purring when he got to the Care Center. Having made quite the entrance, he's since settled in and has been trying so heartbreakingly hard to make the best out of the hand he's been dealt. Archangelo has plenty of blankets but loves to knead the door of his condo, or at least that's what he's been doing when he sees people walk by. As soon as I opened the door, he was cuddling himself into my hands like it was the only thing he could dream of doing. When I offered a catnip mouse, he held it with both paws to kind of groom it. Alternating between around and snuggling up with my hand and the toy, Archangelo's declared himself to be an outstandingly affectionate cat. Even the sweetest among us are dynamic individuals who respond to our environments and Archangelo is said to be a little sensitive when it comes to the latter. He's not a fan of loud noises or sudden movements but wants another chance to be someone's baby. Primary Color: Tabby Secondary Color: White Weight: 9.2 Age: 4yrs 11mths 4wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Archangelo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
