This 3-5-year-old Shepsky, a stunning blend of German Shepherd and Siberian Husky, was once a wanderer, weaving through neighborhoods and surviving against the odds. Through sheer resilience (and a little help from some devoted neighbors), Meadow was finally caught and given the second chance she deserves. While her past was uncertain, her future is bright. Meadow is slowly learning that humans can be trusted, and while she still carries some caution, she’s blossoming into the affectionate, playful pup she was always meant to be. She loves her toys, sometimes hoarding them like little treasures, and she’s incredibly smart—already picking up basic commands with ease. But life on her own left her without structure, so she’ll need a patient, experienced family willing to guide her with positive reinforcement and help her feel safe. Meadow is high-energy and would thrive in an active home where she gets plenty of exercise and training. She’s still working on leash manners and can be over excited when she sees other dogs on a walk, but we're working to build this skill. She’s also learning that sharing is a good thing—when she trusts you, she’ll even bring you her toys! Because she’s a sensitive girl who’s still figuring out boundaries, Meadow would do best in a home with children 12 and up. She’s curious about cats and has done well with dog-savvy felines that don’t dart away. With calm, well-balanced dogs, she’s social and playful, though introductions should be done thoughtfully. Meadow needs a home that offers patience, structure, and plenty of activity to help her feel secure and thrive. Here’s what her ideal home would look like: ✅ *Experienced & Patient Owners* – Meadow is still learning to trust, so her family should be committed to positive reinforcement and willing to work through her sensitivities. She craves connection but needs time to feel truly safe. ✅ *Active Lifestyle* – This girl has energy to burn! A home with regular exercise—hikes, structured play, and training sessions—will help her channel that energy in a healthy way. ✅ *Adult-Only or Older Kids (12+)* – Meadow can be jumpy and nippy when excited, and she’s still learning impulse control. A family with older kids who understand how to respect her space would be a much better fit than a home with young children. ✅ *Training-Focused Environment* – Meadow needs a family willing to continue her leash training and work on building her confidence. She has the potential to improve, but she’ll need consistency and guidance. ✅ *Calm, Well-Balanced Dogs or Dog-Savvy Cats* – She’s eager to interact with other dogs, but her enthusiasm can overwhelm them. A home with relaxed, confident dogs that won’t mind her playful energy (or a pet-free home) would be best. She also seems okay with cats that stand their ground rather than run, but supervision is key. ✅ *Secure Fencing & Safe Environment* – Given her history of flight risk, her forever home should have secure fencing and a controlled setup to ensure she doesn’t slip away in moments of uncertainty. If you do not have a tall or strong fence, you should plan on keeping her leashed in the yard. Above all, Meadow needs *love, patience, and consistency* to help her transition from survival mode into feeling like a cherished family member. She’s incredibly sweet and intelligent—her perfect home will be one that sees her potential and gives her the support she needs to shine! This brave girl has survived so much, and now she’s looking for a home that will give her the love, patience, and structure she needs to thrive. If you think Meadow might be the perfect fit for you, apply at huskyresceuteam.org and let’s find her the forever family she deserves! Meadow is located in Maryland, she is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and heartworm negative. ~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply If you have additional questions please email info@huskyrescueteam.orgJune 8, 2025, 12:57 pm
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Meadow, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
