My story

*This dog is scheduled to arrive in Grimsby, Ontario on Saturday, June 28*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Josephine is 7lb Yorkie mix. Her paperwork says 7 years old, but we believe she is much younger. She is very nervous at first and needs time to warm up and trust people. She must be approached slowly and will nip if people do not give her time/space. Once she is comfortable, she is so sweet and becomes your shadow. She will want affection and roll on her back for tummy rubs. She needs a patient home who will work with her to build confidence as she adjusts and should be in a home with no kids. She does well with other dogs and has not been tested with cats but would likely do well with proper introductions. She is a spunky gal who loves to play a quick game of fetch and go on walks. Adoption fee: $850Name: JosephineBreed: Yorkshire Terrier mixAge: ~7 years, but likely youngerWeight: ~7lb should be closer to 8-9lbSex: Female, spayedColour: Silver and tan Medical: No concernsGood with men: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with women: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with kids: No When the dog meets new people, she: Approaches cautiously, Approaches in a neutral manner, May avoid new people Good with dogs: Yes, happy to co-exist with other dogsHow does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Neutral - will say hello nicelyWhat type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? She has been good with all sizes, but best with low-medium energy Good with Cats: Unknown, not tested but suspect yes with proper intros Crate training: Work in progress - Must be placed in crate, will bark in crate House training: Work in ProgressResource Guarding: None seenWalks on a leash: Yes, walks well Energy level: Medium Areas to work on: Needs confidence building, Touch sensitivity, Walking nicely on a leashWhat type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Potentially not an apartment due to barking when alone Any noted separation anxiety? She has shown some signs of separation anxiety Barker: Average - she tends to whine more when she wants something than bark, but will bark when separated from her people What would be the ideal home for this dog?The ideal home would have someone who is home most of the time, a home with a securely fenced yard, and can give Josephine patience and love.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Josephine, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
