My story

Meet Cordelia — or as she prefers to be called, Lady Cordelia, Duchess of Snuggleton. Once a card-carrying member of the Zoomie Committee, Cordie has officially handed in her puppy energy resignation letter and is now living her best semi-retired life. Her hobbies include supervising your morning routine with the enthusiasm of a personal cheerleader and launching a full celebratory parade (complete with laps around the living room) when it's time for morning reading and cuddles. Forget productivity — Cordie believes the real priority is being your book buddy and professional sidekick. Meet Cordelia — 21 pounds of royal fluff, five years of refined charm, and zero patience for puppy nonsense. She’s a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which means she was basically born wearing an invisible crown and expecting breakfast in bed. Cordie came to us after being a bit of an oopsie daisy—her previous human wasn’t quite prepared for her Majesty’s grand arrival (read: Cordelia landed in their lap as an unplanned surprise) and they had to graciously bow out, as it just wasn't the right time. Cordelia entered the her fosters household with one regal bark that basically said, “I run things now,” and the resident dogs nodded in agreement. No drama, no drawn-out power struggles—just instant harmony, as if she’d sent them all a formal memo ahead of time. She found her place quietly and confidently, like the seasoned diplomat she clearly believes she is. Tiny humans? She hasn’t officially been introduced to any, but considering her deep devotion to lap time and couch snuggles, we’re betting any kid with a lap and a snack would get the royal seal of approval. Just maybe not the sticky, grabby ones with unpredictable volume levels—Cordie is a lady, after all. As for cats? She hasn’t been around any yet, so we can’t say for sure—but based on her reaction to woodland creatures, we’d recommend a slow and supervised intro, just in case she decides Fluffy the Housecat is a very confusing rabbit. When it comes to new people, Cordelia assumes everyone she meets on walks is already a loyal fan and greets them accordingly. Invite someone into her domain, though, and she might take a minute to assess whether they’re worthy of her presence. My son-in-law took two visits to earn her trust. Me? Instant adoration. What can I say? The lady has standards. If Cordelia were an animal hybrid, she'd be the result of crossing a sleepy sloth with a pampered house cat—equal parts graceful indifference and "Do we have to move right now?" Her energy level is about a solid 2 on the scale, which is perfect if your idea of excitement is switching from one side of the couch to the other. As a road trip buddy, Cordie is basically your dream companion. She’s quiet, calm, and just happy to be along for the ride. Honestly, you could take her to Starbucks, Target, the DMV, and an interpretive dance recital, and she’d sit in the cart like, “Yes, I am the moment.” As long as she’s with you, she’s content—and frankly, honored you brought your emotional support spaniel along. On a leash? Oh, she’ll walk… for a bit. She’s not opposed to exercise in theory, but after about half a mile, she begins her Oscar-worthy performance of “Pick Me Up, Peasant.” She switches sides, pauses dramatically, and then gazes up like, “I have walked far enough. Carry me like the treasure I am.” Her daily fitness regimen includes a brisk mile (which she tolerates) followed by an intensive, all-day couch-lounging session. She’ll sniff a flower or two, contemplate the wind, then head straight for her spot by your side to recharge from all that overwhelming physical exertion. Cordelia is, without a doubt, a homebody at heart. She can go on adventures… but will she enjoy them more than being a burrito on the couch? Highly doubtful. She gives strong “let’s not and say we did” vibes when it comes to anything resembling activity, unless it’s to greet a passing bunny—which, in her eyes, is clearly a threat to national security and must be pursued. Temperament-wise, she’s a mellow, low-maintenance queen who has officially retired from the Puppy Olympics and now specializes in snuggling, supervising morning reading time (with celebratory zoomies), and being your shadow. If there’s a sunbeam or soft blanket available, Cordelia has already claimed it. She’s sweet, gentle, and the type of dog who could absolutely charm her way into a senior living community or onto the lap of a therapist. She enjoys exploring the yard, but make no mistake—Cordelia’s true happy place is wherever you are. Fence or no fence, walk or carry, Cordie is just here to live her best semi-retired life with her forever person. Preferably one with a comfy chair, a love of quiet mornings, and zero expectations for cardio. Cordie is, in fact, potty trained—because of course she is. She’s a lady. The idea of having an accident indoors is beneath her, thank you very much. Honestly, she probably judges other dogs who don’t have their act together yet. As for the kennel? Sure, she’ll humor you and sleep in it at night, but it’s definitely not necessary. She can be left with full access to the house and you’ll come home to… exactly what you left. Now, the couch. Oh, the couch. Cordie hasn’t met a sofa, armchair, or footstool she didn’t immediately claim as her throne. She doesn’t ask for permission—she simply floats up, settles in, and gives you that look like, “Obviously, this spot was made for me. Please adjust your seating accordingly.” Cordie? A troublemaker? Please. She wouldn’t dream of chewing your shoes (they clash with her aesthetic). She’s far too sophisticated for mischief—she’s more “tea and crumpets” than “eat your drywall.” Cordie dabbles in barking the way some people dabble in yoga—briefly, half-heartedly, and mostly just to say she tried. She might toss out a couple of obligatory “Hey, I noticed that” barks, but then promptly decides it’s not worth the energy and returns to her regularly scheduled nap. She’s not here to narrate the neighborhood drama—she’s here for peace, quiet, and all the cuddles. If you’ve made it this far and haven’t already cleared a spot on your couch for Cordie, we need to talk about your priorities. But hey, no judgment—just mild disbelief. If you’re ready to serve as her loyal human (and provide daily cuddles, soft blankets, and maybe the occasional puppuccino), the next step is to fill out that adoption at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app application. Fair warning: she doesn’t do shipping. Her royal presence must be picked up in person—in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. That’s right, you come to her. As it should be.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cordelia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
