ABOUT CASH Looking for a lovable shepherd? Come meet Cash! This beautiful girl is a 1-year-old Shepherd mix who stays very true to her breed. Cash came to HAP after her previous owners were no longer able to care for her. Having been raised in a home, the transition to a shelter environment has understandably been a bit stressful for her. True to her shepherd nature, Cash can be a little anxious, especially in her kennel, but give her some time outside, a few tasty treats, and you'll quickly see her loving personality shine through! She’s incredibly affectionate with her people, greeting her friends with excitement and leaning in with her whole body just to soak up some love. When she’s not snuggling up for attention, Cash enjoys playing with her toys and zooming around our fenced fields, letting her energy out in joyful bursts. With the right home and a little patience, Cash will make a loyal, loving companion. Cash has thrived in our Doggy Day Out program too, check out what our volunteers had to say about her: "Had the pleasure of taking Miss Cash out today! She can be a bit nervous at first, but was quick to warm up. She did well on the leash! Took her down Main Street, Newark and saw tons of people. With her being a bit nervous, we kept our distance just I be safe. She did very well considering the amount of traffic we saw. She was super easy to redirect in moments she got spooked and quickly gained her confidence back. Cash is a lovely girl but does need some time to warm up and get used to her surroundings before truly showing her personality. We both had a great time and hope she finds her people soon!" - Lilly "Once she warms up to you, she is the sweetest angel ever. We started off by just taking a drive around the area, then we went to Battery Park for a nice long walk. Even though it’s hot today, it was very windy with a nice breeze, so Cash and I had a very pleasant time. We took some breaks along the way and sat on the benches together, where she would watch people walk by and the geese in the water. After our walk we sat in the car for a bit to cool off before driving to McDonald’s and getting her a happy meal, she loved every bit of it. Cash is a very sweet girl who loves to cuddle, I hope she can find her forever home with a family that will be gentle and patient with her while she learns to trust!" - Erica If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
