My story

Hi I'm Chewy! I'm a mid-aged Chihuahua and Pug mix, and I've had a bit of a journey, coming all the way from the Texas border abandoned and left alone with a unknown past possible abuse and neglect, life has taught me to be pretty nervous so I tend to keep my distance and avoid people. I know it might seem a little fearful so I need time to trust, but it's just because I'm scared so I need a home who’s slow and ready to be patient and let me blossom! The staff here say with time I’m willing to open my heart with a tail wag and a slow approach I reach for comfort. If I feel cornered my fear might make me try to nip, so I really need a home that understands I need patience and time to feel safe. So a home with adults or older kids who respect my boundaries would be best for me. The leash is still a big challenge for me it’s new and scary but I'm hoping to find someone who's willing to work with me slowly and kindly. If you have a quiet home and a big heart, maybe we can learn to trust each other and become a family!
