My story

Pumpernickel is a 2-year-old male Shih Tzu weighing 13 pounds. When he first arrived at Second Chance SPCA, his fur was so severely matted that he had open sores and could barely walk. Thankfully, he has fully healed and is now bursting with energy. He loves running around and playing with toys, especially stuffed animals. Sweet, friendly, attentive, and loyal, Pumpernickel is an energetic little companion ready to bring joy to his new home.Walk-ins are available from Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Saturday and Sundays have walk-in hours from noon to 4 PM. The best way to get in touch with us is by email: info@secondchancespca.org. For information regarding the adoption process please visit our website or read the information below THANK YOU.ADOPTION PROCESS: If you are interested in adopting from Second ChanceSPCA, please come during open hours. Adopters will visit with an adoption counselor and complete a short application. Adopters must live within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and be at least 21 years old. Renters must provide proof of pet deposit and/or written permission by landlord to have a pet.ADOPTION FEES: Includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, fecal, and heartworm test (dogs) or FeLV/FIV test (cats). All cats and dogs are current on heartworm and flea preventative. $275 for puppies under 6 months of age and $225 for dogs older than 6 months. $175 for kittens under 6 months of age and $150 for cats older than 6 months.
