My story

Meet Sam! Sam is one of the small dogs that came with us from a hoarding situation. We have only had him for two weeks, and we are seeing some slight improvement with him, but he still has quite a long ways to go. We think however, he would do best in a calm home where he can chill and be able to hang out with another dog and his new family instead of all the hustle and bustle that goes on his foster home. While he is having fun right now, he’s kind of able to hide behind the other dogs and isn’t always super confident about coming up to get attention when the other dogs also want attention. Sam appears to be about 10 to 11 months older so. He is crate trained, and absolutely loves his crate. It is his safe space to go to and he will return to it whenever he feels nervous. He is almost house trained, and he is learning how to walk on a leash. He is treat motivated, but only for the good tasty ones and is starting to get the concept of having to sit for his treat. Because he does tend to run when he is nervous, we are requiring a securely fenced in yard for him. He is not going to be a candidate for an apartment. Sam does great with other dogs and we think that he would thrive best in a home with another dog that he can be paired up with and learn from. He has done well with kids so far and we think that he would do well with cats with an introduction. His forever home will need to be a little patient while he learns that humans are safe. What is Sam? That’s a great question! All of the dogs from his home so far seem to be mixtures of Yorkies, Chihuahuas, or other smaller breeds. He may have some schnauzer in there with his wiry coat. He seems to be fully grown and he weighs 17 pounds. If you are interested in adopting Sam, please fill out an application at: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FAY/Dog **Applications can take anywhere from 5-7 business days to complete. When filling out an application, please check for a confirmation email to be sure that your application went through. We respond by email, so please check your spam and trash folders. If you need to reach us regarding your application, the best way to contact us is through email.** We are located in Fayette County, GA and are a foster based rescue without a shelter building.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sam, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
