My story

Meet Star!Found as a stray and brought to ACC by a Good Samaritan.Star is a 2-year-old brindle beauty with a heart as bright as his name. Though his past is a mystery, he's made one thing clear-he's ready for a new beginning filled with patience, structure, and lots of positive reinforcement. Star is affectionate, playful, and curious-but like many young dogs, he's still learning how to express his excitement without getting a little mouthy.🏡 My Ideal HomeStar is looking for a home with adults or teens 13+ who understand that good behavior takes time, and that progress often starts with treats, not perfection. A calm, consistent environment where he can decompress and build confidence would help him shine. He'll thrive with someone committed to positive, reward-based training and daily enrichment.👶 Good with Kids?No young children (under 13). Due to Star's tendency to mouth during play and jump up when overstimulated, he's best suited for a more mature home.🐕 Good with Other Dogs?Star has shown some discomfort when meeting other dogs and has reacted with tension and teeth-baring during off-leash greetings. He may prefer to be the only pet or would need very slow, structured introductions to any potential dog friends.🦮 Leash MannersStar can get excited and occasionally bites the leash, but he walks well on quiet streets and thrives with a toy in his mouth to redirect his energy. He's learning that walks can be calm, sniffy, and full of good things!🩺 Overall HealthStar is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and recently completed treatment for kennel cough (CIRDC). he's otherwise healthy and weighs about 49 lbs.🧠 Behavior Determination: Level 3Star has shown mouthiness, poor impulse control, and occasional leash-biting. He will need ongoing training and consistent routines to help him succeed in the home. ACC recommends force-free, reward-based methods only.🌟 One Fun FactStar loves to jump up and say hi with a big wiggly hello-he's working hard on learning "off," but in the meantime, he's bringing joy with every leap!💸 Adoption Fee: $75Ready to help Star find his place in the universe? Visit our Manhattan Care Center and be the guiding light he needs. Primary Color: Brindle Weight: 52 Age: 2yrs 2mths 4wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Star, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
