My story

Meet Hugo – A Survivor With a Heart Full of Hope Hugo’s story isn’t an easy one to tell. For most of his life, he knew only the weight of a chain around his neck and the ache of hunger in his belly. He lived isolated in a yard, his tail worn raw from the concrete behind him, his spirit shrinking by the day. But even then, he waited—for someone to see him, to care, to offer something better. And finally, someone did. A kind neighbor reached out, and we rushed to bring Hugo to safety. Since then, he’s been slowly healing, both body and soul. He’s learning that people can be kind. That toys are meant for play. That a soft bed doesn’t mean danger. And that love—real love—doesn’t come with pain. Hugo is young, smart, and eager to please. He greets every human with gentle eyes and a wagging tail, still somehow full of trust. He’s discovering his confidence day by day, and his silly, affectionate personality is beginning to shine through. He gets along with other dogs after slow, patient introductions, but he’d also be perfectly happy as your one and only—a companion who will love you with everything he has. What Hugo needs now is a home. A foster, or better yet, a forever family that will give him the consistency, compassion, and security he’s never known. After everything he’s been through, Hugo still believes in people. Let’s prove to him that belief was worth holding onto. Hugo is ready. All he needs is you. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. If you have any questions or would like to adopt Hugo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
