My story

Contact SaveMeAdoptMe@gmail.com or text or leave a message at 573-512-2102 for an application. The adoption donation of $175.00 covers spay / neuter, vaccinations, microchip, deworming, and current monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention. Sweet little mama Kat had been seen by a river for about a week and was extremely starved. They did not even realize she was pregnant. She ended up having 6 puppies under a gazebo during a terrible storm. Sadly, 5 of the puppies did not make it, but Leia puppy is doing great. Kat's DOB is guessed at 7/15/24. Leia was born 3/13/25. Kat is about 35 lb. No idea who the daddy was, so not sure on Leis's future weight. Possibly Lab or Beagle? They are scheduled to be fixed mid-may and ready to go home about a week after. They do not have to be adopted together, but of course it would be wonderful if they could. Kat would make a great agility or frisbee dog. She has some wonderful moves, and plays a lot with her mouth. She has some true cattle dog traits, not to be construed as biting, a cattle dog does it uses its mouth or light nips to guide and direct. All easily worked with once you are familiar with that and as with any young dog or puppy if you have not attended a training class for yourself it is advised. Leia did not have the benefit of multiple litter mates to play and expend energy and learn a bit more about how sharp those little teeth are so if children in the home, they would need to be 6-7 years or older because she will be using many things as chew toys for several months yet. Though they spent most of their time in a 5x10 run in the garage, mama Kat is very adamant about getting outside when she has to go potty so I would consider her housebroke. Leia has not made the distinction and as a puppy will need help figuring that out, but I do take her out every couple hours so most of her potties are done outside. As she gets older she will able of course be able to hold for a little longer. Now they spend quite a bit of time in an area with a doggie door and go in and out at will. Very seldom does she go potty inside during the day.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kat, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
