Hello! My name is Bogey. I’m a Golden Retriever boy who weighs 30 lbs. and just turned 1 on 6/4/25. My foster family says that I’m an affectionate and goofy boy. I’m working very hard at getting familiar with being part of a human family. I've had little socialization in my first year of life, so things can be scary to me. I'm looking for a very patient and committed person/family who can go nice and slow with me as I learn about this great big world. Slow and steady wins the race they say! General Behavior: Bogey is a mix of laid back and “chill” and active. He is gentle, quiet and shy, but he also can be playful when he does his outdoor zoomies (even in the rain or through the sprinklers). He also likes to give kisses. He does have some anxiety when meeting new people or in new settings, but we know with the right home, his confidence will continue to grow each and every day. Likes & Dislikes: Bogey LOVES his hard chew treats and will happily lie on the couch with them. He loves being outside playing but is equally happy lying on the couch watching his human. Training: Bogey has mastered house training in his foster home and even whines if he needs to go potty outside. He will need a patient human who can work with him on leash walking and on basic manners. Medical: Bogey is a healthy boy and just needs monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative, like any other dog. Bogey will need to continue on a high-calorie puppy food for a few more months until he gains more weight. Other Animals: Bogey came to Poodle and Pooch with many siblings so is used to other dogs his own size. We think he would thrive with an older or confident canine friend in his new home who could teach him “all things dog”. He also has been living with 4 cats in his foster home and has no issue with them. Children: Because of Bogey’s nervousness, he would do best in a home with no small children. Teens who can respect his shyness and not overwhelm him, or an adult-only home would be suitable for him. Home: Bogey would do best in a single-family home with a fenced yard. He loves to be outdoors and since he has not yet mastered the leash, it would be best to have a secure yard. A quieter home where someone is home more often than not would be ideal for him. When home alone, he is comfortable in a secure spot. At night, he loves to sleep in the “big person” bed. Grooming: Beautiful Bogey will need regular hair brushing and baths . . . two things he doesn’t mind at all. That, along with occasional nail trims will keep this boy looking his absolute best. Overall: Bogey will be sure to bring love and laughs to your life. With a committed and patient owner, the sky’s the limit for this guy! Are you the one for Bogey? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You will be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it is a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption donation is $575. ##2356747##
