My story

Meet Peaches, a sweet and resilient 53 lb hound who has known more hardship than a dog should ever endure. While we may not know her exact age, we estimate she’s a middle-aged adult, who’s seen more than her fair share of life’s struggles. She’s had many litters in the past and may have even lived with a family indoors at some point because it’s clear that her heart is filled with love, even if she’s never had a forever home to call her own. Peaches was unexpectedly dumped in Kentucky where the owner of the property did interact with her a bit, but she was still left to live outdoors, surviving in harsh conditions with little human care. Peaches is now thriving in her cozy foster home and ready to leave the past behind. Despite her past, Peaches is a gentle soul who gets along wonderfully with other dogs. All she wants now is a chance to feel safe, loved, and cherished. Peaches doesn't seem to have any medical conditions at all -- we are thrilled that she is so happy and active -- however she is requiring at some point treatment for heartworm. We will be determining with our vets the best way to proceed with this super loving and appreciative dog. If you may not be the one to adopt Peaches, any amount in sponsorship donations would help so much with her upcoming medical treatments. But if you think Peaches could be the perfect companion for you, please consider applying to adopt her at https://peace4paws.org/adoption-application. She truly deserves a second chance at life because she's not ready to give up. If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! U.S. shelter and adoption estimates 2012 3,500—Number of animal shelters •  6-8 million—Number of cats and dogs entering shelters each year 25 percent—Percentage of purebred dogs in shelters •  3-4 million—Number cats and dogs adopted from shelters each year 2.7 million—Number of adoptable cats and dogs euthanized in shelters each year 25% of dogs in shelters are pure bred - that's 1 in 4! If you have any questions or would like to adopt Peaches, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
