My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $700 Meet Bananas, a 1-12 month old, 13 lb Schnoodle type with the zest and zip of a pup half his age! He has a low-to-non-shedding type of coat, so he won't leave much of a mess on your furniture!   Bananas may be small in size, but this guy is big on brains, energy, and personality. Whether he’s practicing his tricks (yes, he learned sit, shake, and spin just by watching another dog! what a smartie!), zooming around the backyard, or curled up next to you after a satisfying stroll, Bananas lives life with enthusiasm and heart.   He starts his day around 6:30–7AM, spends his morning romping in the backyard, and then it's breakfast and a neighborhood walk. The rest of the day is a balance of toy time, lounging, and keeping tabs on his foster mom from his cozy couch perch. After dinner around 5:30, he’s ready for another stroll, followed by a wind-down and bedtime (in his crate… kind of) by 10–10:30PM. While crate training is a work in progress, Bananas is happy to nap on the bed if he wakes up early.   Bananas is playful, curious, and incredibly smart. He’s eager to learn, food-motivated, and has great recall. He’s also a bit of a goofball—in the best way—and will use his little front paws like hands when he wants attention. He’s still working on his manners (like barking at loud noises or big dogs on walks), but with some patience and training, he’s sure to shine. While he is not a nuisance barker, he does have quite a voice, so he may not be the best bet for apartment living.   He gets along well with other dogs and would thrive with a playful pup companion. That said, he’d also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only if you give him plenty of exercise, enrichment, and love. Although he's older, Bananas will sometimes use his teeth when playing, so while he would enjoy the energy of kids (and playtime with them!), they'll need to be dog-savvy enough to understand that nibbles are not bites!   Ideal home? A house with access to outdoor adventures, and someone who enjoys a mix of activity and couch time. Bananas is a fast learner with a joyful spirit, and once he bonds, you’ve got a loyal, entertaining companion who’s all in. Folks who like training: this is your boy. You can teach him SO much, and he'll pick it up in a flash! We predict Bananas may become an Instagram star, showing off all his tricks and winning hearts!   If you're looking for a smart, silly, spirited dog who’s ready to make your days brighter, Bananas just might be your perfect match!June 7, 2025, 11:01 am
