My story

Ello, I'm Malachi. I am a BIG DUDE. I am almost eight years old, and about`17 pounds. I am a purebred ragdoll, my original family bought me from a breeder when I was only eight weeks old. I spent my almost eight years with that family and was extremely loved in a home with people, my friend Maeve, and two sheepdogs, but when the children went to college and a family member fell ill my mom and dad had to care for them so they felt what was in my best interest was to find a home that can give me more attention. I love to be around people and all of the action. I got along well with the dogs in my previous home and with Maeve, although I could sometimes be a bit of a brat to her. For that reason we can be adopted together or separate, I do love her but I wouldn't be heartbroken if we separated. I should mention, I am front paw declawed; although, at least at this point in my life, this hasn't seemed to cause me any adverse affects. I have had no aversions to the litter box and don't seem to have any arthritis yet but solensia injections may be beneficial to me in the future as I continue to age. I like to be the king of my castle and will often be found at the highest point in a room to oversee my kingdom. As you can imagine, cat trees are a must for me. I can often be handled like a fat sack of potatoes like the stereotypical ragdoll and enjoy belly rubs but when I am over it I will leave. I love to be loved, but on my terms. I'm not mean or anything, I'm just in charge here. I'm never too far from my humans and love to always be near my family but don't need feel the need to be cuddling with you or be right up on you. I tend to prefer males over females but do like all humans and other pets, I am a pretty chill dude. I don't care for being brushed, however, despite my large size, I do a pretty great job cleaning myself and my fur tends to not mat. I'm not crazy about toys although I do occasionally like to play with cat dancer toys (you know the cardboard spool on a wire,) and a laser pointer, but I tire quickly and go back to lounging in a cardboard box or nearby cat tree to recharge. I love outside but know it's not safe for me to go out in the big world, if you want to spoil me like the fancy boy I am, I would adore a catio where I could enjoy the outside safely. Will you be my forever family to dote on me like the regal man I am? Malachi is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, treated for parasites, and combo-tested negative for FIV/Leuk.  His adoption fee is $125. For more information, please call or text 847-773-7639 or email info.stsff@gmail.com. ##1775332##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Malachi, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
