My story

Introducing Azula! Playful Affection Cuddly Initially Shy Hi, I’m Azula! I’m an energetic and affectionate Great Dane who thrives in an active, engaging environment. I might be a little shy at first, but give me a few minutes and I’ll be bouncing around, ready to play or snuggled up close. My perfect day? Lots of running, wrestling with doggy friends, and ending the night cuddled up with my humans. I’m great with adults and really enjoy their attention. I’ve also done well around kids aged 8 and up. My zoomies can get a little wild, so older or dog-savvy children are the best match for me. I love playing with other dogs and get along especially well with the two Frenchies in my foster home! I’m usually submissive, but I’ll speak up if another dog doesn’t respect my space. I’ve met cats too, and while I’m curious, I haven’t shown any prey drive. Likes:• Zoomies and running in open spaces• Playing tug-of-war and fetch• Walks• Hanging out with other dogs Dislikes:• Being left alone for more than 6 hours• Yelling or raised hands (they make me nervous—I may have had some tough moments in the past) I’m a pretty smart cookie! I know sit, stay, come, off, wait, drop it, and lay down. I do tend to bark when people come over or when my humans come home. I also bark a bit near fences outside. I’m fully housebroken and don’t need a crate—I’m trustworthy when left alone. I’m also in great health with no concerns! Forever Home Wishlist:• A physical fence would be awesome but isn’t required• I need a midsize to large yard where I can run and play• I’d do best with a family that’s gone for no more than 6 hours at a time• Kids in the home should be 8+ or giant-breed experienced• Another playful dog would be a big bonus for me• Apartment life isn’t for me Fun Fact: I love going to the cabin and splashing around in the water! I’m still figuring out how I feel about pontoon rides, but outdoor adventures? I’m all in. If you think Azula will be a great addition to your family, please reach out to us by following one of the options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Azula’s Placement Coordinator at katie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about her. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue.
