My story

Animal Profile: Rico is a pint-sized cutie joining us from Modesto, CA on 5/1/2025. This little Chihuahau mix guy weighs in at only 10 pounds. He is dog friendly and though shy at first, a total love with people. Foster Update:  Rico is a 1-year-old, 10lb Chihuahua with a big heart and a love for attention. He’s super social, food-motivated, and always ready to be part of the action. Whether it's cuddling or training, Rico is eager to please and already learning basic commands, walking well on leash, and staying cool around other dogs and people. He’s working on crate and place training to build confidence when his humans aren’t around. Rico would do great in a home with adults, dog-savvy kid 10 and up, and other dogs. He hasn’t met cats yet, but nothing seems to faze this little guy!  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.
