My story

** If you are interested in adopting Rocket, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Rocket is a 1-year-old Chihuahua / Rat Terrier mix with a big personality packed into a tiny 10-pound frame. Found as a stray in Pampa, Texas, Rocket ended up in a small, under-resourced shelter—but he didn’t let that dampen his spirits. He quickly made friends with the other dogs and formed a sweet bond with the shelter staff’s children, ages 8 and 10. Playful, social, and full of love, Rocket is now making his way to Colorado in search of a forever home. He may look a bit bigger in photos—especially when held by the 10-year-old boy he adores—but don’t be fooled: this little guy is petite and perfect for someone looking for a small companion with a joyful heart. Rocket would thrive in a home that can offer him affection, activity, and the companionship he craves. We don’t know if Rocket has had any formal training, but a (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class will help him build confidence, bond with his new family, and master good manners. Training is essential for a successful adoption, and Farfel’s is happy to provide a list of recommended force-free trainers to set him up for success. Rocket has been fully vetted, is up to date on vaccines, and neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
