My story

Looking for a sweet, soulful companion who wants nothing more than to be where you are? Meet Lester, a gentle, goofy guy with a heart of gold and a serious soft spot for cuddles and treats.Lester has been completely house-trained in his foster home. He’s a mellow, low-to-medium energy pup (think a 4 on a 10 point scale) who’s happy to snooze the day away with you… just don’t let the weekend get too lazy, or he’ll remind you he still needs a bit of play and sunshine to keep his spirits up!Lester lives for human affection. He melts into you with kisses, paw-taps for attention, and a big ol’ happy tail wag whenever you walk into the room. He’s learning not to be quite so enthusiastic with his paws—something to keep in mind if you have small kiddos around. After a recent hip surgery, Lester has developed a bit of a fear of slick floors and may do a dramatic little slip-and-slide routine if he’s not on a rug. But toss down a runner or two and he’s back to strutting around like a pro.He adores other dogs and is respectful of their space, even if he really wants to play. He’ll happily share his yard time or snooze side-by-side with a buddy. He’s still building strength and needs to be mindful of overdoing it with his hips, but short walks and breaks from play work great for him. He’d thrive in a home with or without other dogs, as long as he gets plenty of human time. He wants to be in on all the action—whether you’re cooking, grabbing something from the basement or just putting on your shoes. He’s not high-maintenance—just full of love, curiosity and the kind of gentle spirit that makes your house feel more like home.If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, treat-loving sidekick who will follow you anywhere (especially to the fridge), Lester might just be your perfect match. Adopt Lester—and let the cuddles beginLester had hip surgery in May and has recovered amazingly! According to our vet he may need surgery on his other hip in the future. This would be the responsibility of the adopter. We will share medical records and X-rays so you can make an informed decision. He is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Apply today at mpravl.org!  All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. June 7, 2025, 11:03 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lester, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
