My story

Brave, Competent, Determined Meet Mona, a beautiful orange girlie eagerly hoping to find the special home of her dreams! A recent mom (to seven kittens!), Mona is now ready for some serious rest and relaxation. And she's hoping you will be just the calm place for her to find it. Mona is extremely reserved around new people and will hiss to let you know she feels uncomfortable. The good news is, that in just a short time in foster care, Mona had learned that people can be familiar - safe, even. She still startles easily at times, resulting in a paw swat or swipe. But she is overall becoming more gentle over time and just needs a patient home that gives her the space and time she needs to fully come out of her shell. Something that has helped Mona is finding out that new people can be pretty cool. She has already figured out that people who are tender with her have great things to offer. She is highly food-motivated and is especially open to new experiences when treats are involved. This is an ideal time to bond with her and to initiate interactions as she'll be in a more receptive mood. But if you really want to progress in your relationship with Mona, bring out the big guns: ear scratchies. She is nearly helpless against them! Mona happily enjoys receiving these types of pets from people she has grown comfortable with and will purr her approval.
