My story

This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $300 if picked up in TN, $375 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Meet Anna — a charming, pint-sized powerhouse with a perfect mix of sweetness and sass! At just 8 pounds, this two-year-old Toy Australian Shepherd might look like a delicate baby doll, but make no mistake — Anna is all dog. With her expressive eyes, adorable stub tail, and sweet personality, she’s the total package for someone who understands the spirited nature of herding breeds and is ready to provide structure, enrichment, and love. Anna is energetic without being hyper. She enjoys a morning walk of about 2.5 miles and is always up for a quick round of zoomies in the yard or a playful romp with her dog friends. She also loves her chew toys, especially Nylabones, and can often be found stretching out flat on her tummy with her hind legs behind her, tail wagging happily when she’s feeling content and secure. While she enjoys affection on her terms, she’s not a clingy lap dog and thrives with a healthy balance of attention, boundaries, and activity. She’s fully housetrained and walks beautifully on a leash, making her a great companion for someone with an active lifestyle. Anna does well with dogs of all sizes and gets along just fine with cats, though she prefers to ignore them. While she finds goats entertaining from a distance, her herding instincts are strong, which also means she’s not the best fit for a home with small children. Anna’s instincts are deeply rooted, and she needs a home where those traits will be respected and positively guided.  Anna is still learning to fully trust new people, so she will need some patience and understanding at first. She may be a bit vocal and could be a flight risk in unfamiliar situations, so a secure, fenced yard is an absolute must. She does best in a calm, structured environment with someone who has experience with herding breeds - someone who understands that Anna needs purpose and boundaries to flourish. With the right match, Anna will make a loyal, smart, and utterly delightful companion. She’s affectionate, fun, and full of potential - ready to thrive in a home that can keep her both physically and mentally engaged. If you have Aussie experience and are looking for a small dog with a big personality, Anna might just be your perfect partner.  Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: http://aarf-tn.com/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption. June 3, 2025, 10:46 am
