My story

Sweet Hemire is waiting for his moment, and now that his brother has found a home, we’re hoping it’s his turn. When you first meet Hemire, you’ll likely find him quietly leaning against his kennel door, trembling just a bit. He’s overwhelmed in the shelter environment, but don’t let that fool you, this little guy has so much love and potential just waiting to come out! Hemire is easy to leash but too scared to walk through the kennels, so he often gets a lift outside. And once those paws hit the play yard? His spark shines, especially when he sees other dogs! Hemire absolutely lights up around other pups. He becomes loose, wiggly, playful, and full of sweet energy. He’s social, steerable, and engages in gentle play, complete with play bows and tail wags. He’s met friendly dogs like Freddy and Perfect, and he adored spending time with them. After his playtime, Hemire settled in for some quiet cuddles, took treats gently, soaked up belly rubs, and even shared a few kisses. Still a young pup, Hemire will thrive with a patient adopter who can offer consistency, training, and confidence-building. He would do especially well in a home with a kind, confident resident dog to help show him the ropes. Hemire was found tied up with his brother Chigo, and while they leaned on each other for comfort, they’re being adopted separately to give them the best shot at growing into their own. Come meet this sweet soul and help him start the next chapter of his life. Hemire is available for adoption every day from 10am–6pm at ACCT Philly! He was easy to leash, but didn’t want to walk through the kennels, so I carried him. Once outside he perked up and trotted through the yard for a bit, but soon after froze up again, scared to wander around. That is until he saw another friendly dog! Hemire’s whole demeanor changes around other pups. He is silly and curious, yet submissive! He had a fence meet with Freddy & a meet with Perfect too and boy did he love spending time w some furry friends. After our meets we spent a little quiet time together where he took treats gently, came when called. Allowed all over pets - especially belly rubs which appear to be his favorite, and we even shared a few smooches. He’s young and could use some training, consistency, and confidence building, but he’s going to make a great addition to a family. Hopefully one with another kind pup who can help show him the ropes! 06/04/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Social, loose wiggly, play bows, steerable, push pull play style 06/03/2025 volunteer notes: Kennel Presence: Such shut down babies but super sweet pups! Both didn’t want to come out of kennel. I dropped treats for Hemire and he ate them but wouldn’t get up. Leash: I ended up picking him up and carrying him out which he allowed no problem. Very submissive just so scared! Tried to walk a few times but he wouldn’t move. Handling: Once we got outside and saw his brother he completely loosened up and gave tail wags! Completely different dog. So sweet together and very comfortable. Totally fine sharing treats and toys. They both took pets all over and were pretty submissive. In the volunteer office they started coming out of their shells and were affectionate. Hemire still hid a bit but took pets and was wiggly when he got brave enough to come out. Needed to carry him back in as he hid under a chair when we went to leave the room ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
