My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.CANYON hails from the northern community of Muskrat Dam and was part of our Trucker Litter who came south to find their forever families. He’s had his 2 sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. We have no information on either parent so the breed he is and the size he’ll grow to be is just a guess. This happy, calm little guy is a perfect combination of snuggles and energy. He loves being around his people and playing with his many dog toys.  CANYON is crate trained and will sleep quietly in it at night and also take naps in there during the day. House training is going really well but he will still have the odd accident so it’s basically still a work in progress. He just starting to go on walks and like all puppies, he pulls on his leash and excitedly runs ahead of you. He’s at a chewing stage right now as he’s teething so he has several chewy toys plus Nyla bones to keep his teeth busy. He’s very good with eating his meals with other dogs around and also taking treats. He knows most basic commands and will sit for his meals and take treats “gentle.” He’s a very smart boy and picks up very quickly on commands and seems to always know what’s expected of him.  CANYON’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take him on adventures with them. He gets along very well with the other dogs in the his foster home and he’s very social with the ones he’s met so far. He hasn’t met a cat but if the cat is dog savvy and with a slow, monitored introduction then he should be able to live in a home with one. Children should be aged 6 plus and  be gentle and loving towards animals. He does require a fenced-in yard to keep him safe while he runs around and plays.  Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to take him for puppy/obedience training to help him become a well mannered and good boy. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have his neuter performed by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (which ever comes first.) It will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. However his neuter will still have to be performed in the above timeframe for the reimbursement and we’ll need a copy of the procedure invoice and an updated photo of him (preferably in a cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were fixed that same week. If CANYON sounds like he’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 1, 2025, 12:17 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt CANYON, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
